Immunization and Wellness Care
We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in Wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include: Comprehensive physical exam; internal parasite testing; heartworm and flea control; vaccination program; spay and neuter package; and specialized blood tests for all life stages.
Internal Medicine
We cover all areas of internal medicine, including: Cardiology;
Ophthalmology; Neurology; Dermatology; Gastroenterology; Orthopedic
surgery; Oncology; Endocrinology; among others. Should your pet need
the care of a veterinary specialist, we will refer you and your pet
accordingly.
Surgery
We offer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. Surgical services and facilities include: fully trained veterinary and technical staff, to ensure the safest, most efficient, state-of-the-art procedures for your pet; heated surgery tables for greater comfort; advanced sterilization techniques; ECG and oxygen saturation monitors; intensive after surgery care and full blood testing.
Dental Care
Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. We also have chews and special diets available to prevent and reduce tartar buildup in your cat or dog.
Emergency and Critical Care
In any emergency, seconds count. Emergency care is offered during regular business hours as well as after hours. Should you have an emergency, contact us right away at 859-887-1188. If it is during non-operating hours
and if you are a client of McCaw Veterinary Clinic, an on call Dr. will be paged immediately.
Radiology
Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. We are pleased to announce that as of December 2008 we offer digital radiography services. Digital radiography offers precise detail and the ability to quickly and easily request second opinions from veterinarians who specialize in radiology. We can also provide clients or other veterinarians with copies of radiographs within seconds.
Fully Stocked Pharmacy
We stock a wide range of the best veterinary drugs in the animal healthcare field. If we don’t have something that you would like – we might be able to order it.

Pain Management
Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care. We work hard to ensure that your pet is comfortable in all situations.
Microchipping
Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer
Home Again microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery.
Ultrasound
This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available.
Med RX Scope
We have an in-house Med RX Scope which can be used for viewing and deep cleaning of the inner ear canal, viewing of the nasal passageways and/or viewing of the throat.
Large Animal Services
At the McCaw Veterinary Clinic, we are proud to continue offering an ambulatory service to owner's of large animals.
We treat and provide "well care" service to cattle, horses, goats, sheep and the occassional llama.
We have a stocked pharmacy with medicines for animals of all description. Please contact our office with any questions about the services we provide.
Bathing
We would be happy to bathe your dog for you. Your pet will feel better, be cleaner, and smell better too! If scratching is a problem, we offer medicated baths that contain soothing agents to help with the itching.
Additional services also include nail trim, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression. If fleas are a problem ask us about Capstar,
Comfortis and Vectra for your pet.
Nutritional Counseling
Some pets require special prescription food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. Our trained and certified staff is available to help you choose the right diet for your pet to keep him or her happy, healthy and active. We carry Hill's,
Royal Canin and Purina prescription diet products. We do not carry over the counter/non-prescription pet foods.
Hospice/Euthanasia Services
Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We work with clients to ensure their pet's comfort and dignity. Services include taking care of the remains as directed by the client. Pet owners do have the choice to have their pet cremated and returned if they so desire. Let us know if you are interested in this service.
Comprehensive Canine Reproductive Services
The reproduction and birth cycle is important to the responsible breeder and to McCaw Veterinary Clinic. We offer several services to maximize the breeding opportunities of your canine companion. We want responsible breeders to enjoy and understand the entire reproductive experience. Prior to breeding your dog, we recommend a complete physical exam on both the female and the male. After determining the overall health of the breeding animals, McCaw Veterinary Clinic offers the following services: 1) microscopic evaluation for breeding readiness of the female 2) evaluation of the males semen 3) blood testing for timed ovulation in the female 4) semen collection and insemination at the office 5) ultrasonography at 20-25 days post breeding for pregnancy conformation 6) radiography at 45-57 days post breeding for puppy count and estimation of delivery date 6) obstetric assistance as well as full surgical suite readiness for cesarean section (if needed). Blood Transfusion
If your pet is in need of a blood transfusion, we have donor pets available.
